Green Companies and Corporations

Green companies are those that are friendly to the environment, looking to conduct their business in a way that they make the most profit with the least impact to the planet's sustainability. Nike, for instance, feels very strongly about their responsibility towards the environment. They do their part by enforcing programs that evaluate and improve the environmental footprint of their suppliers, including chemical toxicity, water use and carbon emission checks. Another instance is Intel, which uses the same cutting edge technology on its green policies as on their products, such as megawatts solar panels, of which one alone is enough to power 11% of their campus energy requirements.

Another technology giant, IBM, started out reducing its electricity and water consumption during the 90's decade, and by the year 2000 it had already cut down energy use by 5.1 billion kilowatt hours. Johnson & Johnson has set itself well established goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at a predetermined date. As part of these efforts they have already lowered nonhazardous waste and hazardous waste both by 32%, as well reduced baseline 1990 CO2 emission levels by 7 percent, which was accomplished by 2010. J&J however is not the only online pharmacy related company to go green.

Pfizer, the largest drug manufacturer in the world and proud father of Viagra also works to reduce its carbon and energy footprint. Their commitment includes reducing C)2 emissions, improving energy efficiency, and developing and applying clean energy technologies. In order to achieve this, Pfizer has started initiatives such as fomenting leadership in energy management and environmental stewardship, improving colleague awareness and engagement with a conservation culture, and undertaking building energy evaluations and conducting Good Energy Management Practices training worldwide. Other green companies are Hewlett Packard, Dell, Sprint Nextel, Adobe, Applied Materials, and Yahoo.
